Story about an Chinese general Huo an (Jackie Chan) who serves as a commander of the Protection Squad of the Western Regions to the Han Emperorto which task to maintain stability between the warring 36 nations in the Silk Road region. He offers shelter to a renegade Roman Lucius (John Cusack) and his legion who tries to flees with his legion to the east. He smuggles Publius (Jozef Waite), heir of the ruling Roman Consul, to the east at the behest of the Parthian Empire to save him from death and a ploy by his older brother Tiberius (Adrien Brody) who schemes to takeover the position as heir to the Consul for himself. Then they becomes involved in the soldier's dispute with Rome's villainous consul .
